Deadline Extension: 31 May 2021

The Department of Employment and Labour has published a notice to all employers, informing them that the date for the submission of the 2020 Return of Earnings has been extended to 31 May 2021.

The portal for submitting the returns will be opened as of 01 April 2021 – 31 May 2021.

Employers are required to submit a Return of Earnings form (W.As.8) Annually. Submissions after this date will be considered late and attract a 10% penalty with added interest to the account.

What is the payment for?

The annual payment made by employers to the Compensation Fund, protects employers against civil claims if employees get injured on duty or contract occupational diseases. These employees can then claim compensation for temporary or permanent disablement from the Fund.

Employers are obligated by the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993 to take out this insurance.

For the 2021 /2022, ROE the following information is required:Salaries and wages paid for the period 1 March 2020 to 28 February 2021. (Annual per employee)

Estimated salaries and wages for the period 1 March 2021 to 28 February 2022. (Annual value per employee with 5 – 10% Increase)

The Compensation Commissioner will determine the annual premiums on assessment.
